Ils sont tous les deux les co-fondateurs de Panic at the disco. Leur premier groupe était Pet Salamander où Ryan faisait la guitare et le chant alors que Spencer s'occupait de la batterie. C’est lui qui a recruté Brent Wilson l'ancien bassiste de Panic At The Disco.
